What is easier to learn, crochet or knit?
I have never done it before in my life. My mother in-law passed away and I have some of her yarn and crochet needles and want to use some of it to make a baby blanket. What are some good step by step books for first timers?
Since you already have the yarn & hooks, go with the flow, crochet is easy to learn. Go to your local dept. or craft store and buy a booklet, “Learn to Crochet”, they are sold near the yarn.
These small books only cost $3-4 and they show you pictures and have written instructions on how to do each stitch. Plus they have several simple beginner’s patterns (for baby blankets) in them. The booklets are small enough to carry with your yarn in a “to go” Canvas bag (sold in the craft dept also), for those times when you have to sit and wait for appointments.
Then you can go onto you tube and watch some video’s called “The art of Crochet” by TJW. She has made tutorial videos for many stitches, patterns, and misc items. You can watch and rewind it until you are caught up with her. Here is a link to the first video (crochet 101 Chain) you will need.
