Depending on your location will, to the most extent, reveal whether a baby nursery is normal; Also how much you have money wise will influence whether you are able to follow that tradition and give your newborn with a nursery all there own.
Now giving a baby there own nursery is not considered normal in most countries. Take for example my children from my first marriage where my child was brought up in England, where a baby will have there own separate nursery. That’s just how it is there. Now take my other daughter where she was brought up in the Philippines where it is customary for the newborn to sleep with the parents.
Now in terms of what a parent should do, it can be a difficult decision: Do you make a separate nursery room for your child, or do you have them sleep with you? Or even just have them in your room, but in a crib? There are many opinions as to which is the best thing to do, and i will tell you that it became quite the topic of conversation when we opted to put our daughter in her own little nursery room (in the Phillipines).
My view was that it was best for the child to have her own room, and since that is the case, she should have her own room now. My opinion is that a child will grow into her own personality based on what she is used to and has grown into. Some very important points for a baby are when they are growing up are:
- fed well;
- kept clean;
- comfortable;
- Feel secure that the parents are near.
- But most important, they are loved.
All very achievable when they have there own room.
Pluses of having a Separate Baby Nursery
There are several reasons why this is best, for the baby and the parents. These include:
1. Baby will not be distracted by parents coming and going. As they mature, that will be important at night.
2. Parents will have there own quality time together, without a baby around. As the years go by, this will be more and more appreciated.
3.The quality of the sleep that the parents get will be much much better. This is immensely important for the well being of the parents.
4. The child will be much more able to grow into a confident, self-assured adult. They are used to sleeping alone, and will grow to learn to be ok with it.
Minuses of A Separate Baby Nursery
In all honestly, i cannot think of a single thing that would make having a separate baby nursery a disadvantage. As long as you are in earshot of the baby, then there is no downside to having them in another room.
And just keep this in mind, a baby cries to be heard. So unless she is very far away, chances are slim that you will not be able to hear her. This is my opinion, and i am just giving it to you. But in the end, do what is most comfortable for you. After all, it is your child ; )
